We are a Southside Chicago-based collective of dancers exploring black womanhood in this century and beyond.
We found ourselves collected down by a riverside, surrounded by great lakes, and decided to look up, and look inward.
We explore what it means to live, act, work, care, love, and move in service of ourselves with freedom and purpose in the context of structures seeking to obscure and eliminate.
We use technology as a medium, leaning into platforms that shock the mind and widen the senses to explore how choreography and movement can be mediated through them. Our work is all the more pertinent given technology’s role as one of the very structures seeking to obscure and eliminate. Through movement, we investigate our relationship to the devices that monitor and control our lives, figuring out how to move with, through, and in spite of them.
